Red Wines
Red wines, everyones favourite. Well, not everyone of course, but they certainly get the lion's share of attention. These are made by fermenting the grape juice, with the grape skins. The colour comes from the skins. The inside of all grapes is white*, not dissimilar to apples, so the colour of the wine is determined by the contact with the skins during the wine making process. These are wildly different expressions of wines. Some are soft and bright, some are dense and tannic. It all comes down to the genetics of the grape, where it comes from and who made it.
*Some grapes, called teinturier grapes, have red juice. The word Teinturier comes from the french word to "dye" or "stain".
